Great old silver mining city with highly reputable university and has the largest mineral collections in Middle Europe. All building are nicely renovated in comparison to the East Germany Era. Many shops and restaurants are available for reasonable prices. The Christmas markt just started with a lot of Erzgebirgishe Delicacies, woodwork and craftwork. It is easy to go around walking, by bus. The train station is 15 minutes away. The bells of the adjacent church sounds every half hour as in the old medieval times. People everywhere are friendly and helpful and mostly speak English. Many cultural events are announced specially at Christmas time. Must visit the mineral Collection and the Shloss. Well known with their Stollen at Christmas time. Cafe Hartmann is a must with its traditional Marzipan delicacies. I would recommend visiting this great city anytime of the year.

Freiberg is a very old, traditional town in Eastern Germany which looks back on a long and interesting history. It is famous for its university, which is well- known for its high standard of modern research work , especially in the field of geology and mining. It is easy to get around the place and find your way there. There are some excellent restaurants for example the " Pfeffersack" or "Rathauskeller" which offer traditional regional dishes , "however , prepared according to modern dietary standards. Impressive buildings like the castle, the cathedral or the town hall remind the visitor of the city's great past. After 4 decades of socialist destruction the city , its streets , parks ,wells , pavements and buildings have been restored in a careful and competent way.

Freiberg is a nice little place but it is worth a stop if you are interested in geology and minerals. Houses and monuments are well kept and offer a good example of what a pre war northern Germany little town may have looked like. Restaurants are cheap and offer good local food.

An interesting quiet little university city dedicated to minerals and especially silver. Home of the founders of Indium and also to the scientist von Humboldt as well as Moritz of Saxony. With the mountains of the Erzgebirge close by and silver mines to visit there is lots o do.

It was a very The owner, Mrs. Bäcker, was a very nice lady. I could notice how much she cared for the guests‘ needs and she tried her best to find solutions. Although the building is old, I liked to have the proximity to the train station in Freiberg, to the main supermarkets and restaurants. For my purpose it was ideal because I was moving out of the city and needed a short stay. You have shared bathroom with other guests, shared refrigerator.

Close to the center train station, decent, cozy and clear room. This is the main reason I chose Freyhof. In addition, I will rebook this hotel for not only the reasons above. Take Freiberg as Freiburg mistakenly. Very kind that staff and manager understood this beautiful fault and help me out finally. Very pity that I can't live in Freyhof, which had been highly expected among all the FREIBERG hotels. I will be there in the future.

This is a lovely place to stay for a few days. The location is very convenient and quiet at night and the studio itself is clean and modern with everything you need. Check in and communication with the Hotel was great and they agreed to send us our charger when we left it behind which we were very grateful for. The beds were comfy and the shower was also a good pressure which makes all the difference. It really was an enjoyable stay!

The first and best location of the hotel is in the center of the city with a 10-minute walk to the train station, and 15 minutes to the TU campus. The breakfast regarding having fresh and tasty products is great, however, there could be more options. For a 4-star hotel, the breakfast needs to be better based on my experience. The rooms and area are clean. The staff are nice and helpful.

Accommodation in the city center, quiet location, apartment spacious and well furnished, clean. The handover of the keys was smooth, assistance with transport from the station. I can also recommend the owners' restaurant, located on the ground floor. I will definitely use the accommodation here again on my next visit to Freiberg.

I stay in Freiberg for work a few times a year and this was my first time at the Obermarkt. Every hotel in Freiberg was booked due to Christmarkt and the Obermarkt was kind enough to find a room at the last minute. The room was small but had everything we needed for an overnight stay and the breakfast was excellent.
